Yvonne Todd, ESQ
Originally born and raised Scotland, I immigrated to the United States
in the early nineties. The law has always appealed to me, and after receiving
my B.A. in English from the University of California Riverside in 2000,
I decided that law school would allow me the ability to apply my writing
skills to a challenging profession.
In 2004 I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western State University, College
of Law and became licensed to practice law. During law school I clerked
for the District Attorney’s office as a law student researching
and writing motions and memoranda, and learning how prosecutorial agencies
build their cases.
However, it was during my internship with the District Attorney's Office
that I realized I was on the "wrong side" and was better suited
to criminal defense work. Defending and helping people accused of crime
appealed to me much more than working for the government prosecuting people.
As a former attorney for the Public Defender’s Office, I have handled
all types of misdemeanor and felony cases at all stages of the criminal
process. My knowledge and experience as a former indigent defense attorney
benefits my clients because I am familiar with the intimate workings of
the system, and many of the professionals who work in the system throughout
Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties. I know how
a case needs to be investigated to present an effective defense, I am
skilled in handling multiple pending cases, and I am not intimidated by
Judges or District Attorneys, or the "threat" of trial. During
my career as a criminal defense and
DUI lawyer in Riverside, CA, I have been gratified by the results I have achieved for my clients.
For me, there is no better feeling than knowing I have made a real and
monumental difference in a person's life by getting criminal charges
reduced, dismissed, or a not guilty verdict at trial.
As an attorney at The Law Offices of Ty Martinez I am dedicated to the
defense of our clients. People often find themselves in unfamiliar territory
when facing criminal charges, and, quite frankly it can be terrifying.
A person not only faces jail or prison, but also an unfamiliar system
that unfortunately treats an accused as if already found guilty. This
is where I am able to make a difference. I will explain the criminal process,
possible issues and defenses, and I will fight to protect the rights and
dignity of our clients.
